Koehn’s First Thai Publication

As the top U.S. athletes competed for their chance to make the 2024 Paralympic swim team this past summer at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota campus, Koehn Boyd served as a volunteer runner.

Koehn Boyd and Katie Kubiak were among the new stars to emerge from last weekend’s 2024 U.S. Paralympic National Championships in Orlando. Boyd, just 15 years old, took home six gold medals in the mixed-class races at Rosen Aquatic and Fitness Center.

The Boyds adopted Koehn when he was 20 months old, a process that took 53 days in the country of Ukraine. He was born with Eagle-Barrett, or prune belly syndrome, a genetic birth defect that left him without stomach muscles.
